COMPLEMENTARY & ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE - Physician - Homeopathic

A homeopathic physician is a medical or osteopathic professional who has added homeopathic medicine to the services provided, through organized education and/or self-study.

Homeopathic medicine is a natural and gentle, holistic healing science that uses various plants, minerals, or animals in minimal, energetic doses to stimulate a sick person’s natural healing ability.

Where could I work?

Homeopathic physicians spend the majority of their day seeing patients in private practice or a clinic with other holistic practitioners.

What is the average annual salary?

$136,593

What is the future of this career?

Employment of physicians is projected to grow faster than average for all occupations through the year 2014 due to continued expansion of health care industries.

What type of education and/or training do I need?

Formal training can be study in an alternative school such as a school of naturopathy, homeopathy, or acupuncture. There are correspondence and required-attendance schools.

Training in homeopathy can be informal, as well. Informal training can be self-study through books or seminars or correspondence courses. This is an especially acceptable route for learning homeopathy for personal use, first aid, etc. Even for professional study, self-study or long-distance study can work well, especially when combined with attendance at clinics, where casework can be observed, and seminars.

There are homeopathy courses specifically geared to MDs or other practitioners with medical training. These courses spend less time on the basics of health care and concentrate on basic principles and on specific applications of homeopathy, which probably makes them more time-efficient and useful for the MD.

Where can I get the education and/or training?

  • School of Homeopathy - New Haven
